Net Zero Living Future Ready Lunch and Learn webinar series
Overview
Innovate UK’s £60 million programme is using user-centred design to help local authorities and businesses deliver new solutions that benefit people, improve local services, and open markets for economic growth.
Join this webinar series to hear key insights from the seven Net Zero Living Programme Pathfinder Demonstrator projects. Each session will explore project successes and lessons learned, showcasing impact, avoiding duplication, and how this work can be replicated and scaled at speed across the UK and beyond.
Each month we will explore how local authorities and businesses are working together to innovate net zero delivery.
Session 1: Strengthening communities through place-based innovation,
Wednesday 3 December, 12pm-1pm
Citizen participation, done well, builds the mandate to act. It unlocks trust, aligns internal priorities, and ensures new products and services reflect what people actually want and need.
By positioning climate action as a strategic enabler, councils can address long-standing challenges and deliver cleaner, fairer and more prosperous communities. It becomes a practical tool for unlocking investment, improving lives and creating the conditions for local success.
This webinar will demonstrate how the Net Zero Living Programme places are making this shift, and putting people’s needs at the heart of place-based innovation.
Session 2: Building capacity, creating partnerships, and leveraging data,
Wednesday 7 January, 12pm-1pm
The role of councils as connectors and brokers is evolving. By building enabling ecosystems of governance, finance, leadership, and partnerships, councils turn ambition into delivery. The effective use of data and digital platforms can unlock insight and decision-making that accelerates this coordinated, place-based progress.
This webinar will demonstrate how the Net Zero Living Programme places have used their convening power to align networks, attract investment, and drive innovation with visible local impact.
Session 3: Scaling delivery through investible solutions,
Wednesday 4 February 12pm-1pm
Councils across the UK face a common challenge: turning ambitious climate strategies into fundable, deliverable projects at pace and scale. While priorities and plans exist, many stop short of investment-ready detail, causing delays, missed funding, and reliance on short-term grants.
This webinar will explore the importance of planning, pipeline development, and regional partnerships in unlocking public and private funding.
Session 4: Accelerating delivery in high impact sectors,
Wednesday 11 March 12pm-1pm
Energy, transport and retrofit are the sectors where local authorities can make the biggest impact. Yet despite strong cases for action, delivery often faces familiar obstacles around capacity, coordination, financing, and the need for innovation in practice.
This webinar will focus on factors helping the Net Zero Living Programme places build confidence in and unlock local delivery.
