About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

What is the World Wide Web? How did it start? How can you put things on it? Are you visiting websites or are websites visiting you? How has it changed? What happens to websites when they die? Will historians know anything about us in a hundred years?

About the SpeakerFilip is director of Octophin who make things on the web for wildlife conservation, arts and heritage organisations. He's been experimenting with what you can build on the web since his early teens thirty years ago; building digital art projects around music, colour, location and storytelling that have picked up awards, and recognition from web pioneers. As a member of the first generation to grow up alongside the web, he loves it a lot and occasionally worries about it.Join Filip as he shows what happens behind the scenes of humanity's greatest invention and passes on some knowledge that will help you make the most of it, and maybe protect the best parts of it.
