Event description
Addressing health inequalities around NHS Health Checks in Swindon.

About this event

The NHS health check programme is a Public Health programme offered every 5 years to those aged 40-74 years without pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, aimed to keep people well for longer. It is a risk assessment and management programme to prevent diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease and stroke as well as reducing harmful levels of alcohol intake and raising dementia awareness. This lunch and learn is led by Ruth Bowen, a GP registrar currently working in the SBC Public Health department, outlining low uptake groups of Swindon NHS Health Checks, a review of strategies undertaken in other local authorities and proposals to tackle these inequalities in Swindon.
