About this event

Are you aware of the free support that's available to help make your recruitment process and workplace more diverse and inclusive? Join DYW North East and our partners over lunch to learn more.

DYW North East helps employers across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to offer opportunities for young people, so that they can understand and develop the skills they need to succeed in the world of work. We encourage employers to demonstrate their commitment through the DYW Pledge.

A key aspect of the DYW Pledge is the creation of inclusive and fair workplaces – ensuring opportunities are accessible to all young people. During this session, you’ll hear from our specialist partners about how your organisation can achieve this.

Who is the event for?

This event is open to representatives from organisations of all sizes and sectors. You do not need to be a DYW North East pledge partner – or currently working with DYW North East – to attend.

What can I expect?

  • An introduction to Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East and our role in connecting employers with young people across the region.
  • An overview of fully-funded support available from Enable Works, including their new Enabling Disability Inclusion programme, which helps employers create more inclusive, equitable and accessible workplaces - and why workplace inclusion is more important than ever.
  • An explanation of the Department for Work & Pensions’ Access to Work (ATW) fund, including how it can support special equipment and adaptations, training, travel costs, and other requirements. You’ll also learn about the Disability Confident scheme.
  • Insights into how employers can become more inclusive by offering apprenticeships for young people, with support from Skills Development Scotland to ensure these opportunities are accessible to all.

Where will the event take place?

The event will be held in the conference suite at Fly Cup Enterprises, an Inverurie-based charity providing training and employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, difficulties, and differences. Light lunch refreshments will be provided.
