EMILY MASSER WITH THE DEAN STOCKDALE TRIO

Emily Masser studied classical saxophone at Chetham’s School of Music with the intention of continuing her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After two weeks at the Guildhall, Emily changed direction, abandoning her classical music studies in favour of a place on the jazz degree course. Recently turned 21, Emily is about to graduate with a degree in jazz to her name!

Vocalist, composer, arranger and occasional saxophonist, Emily has released two albums to critical acclaim: Introducing Emily Masser (Clark Tracey Quintet) and the self-released Songs with My Father (featuring Emily’s father, tenor saxophonist Dean Masser). Citing Betty Carter, Annie Ross and Sonny Stitt as major influences, Emily continues to enjoy a meteoric rise, touring the UK with several established names, including Steve Brown, Alex Clarke, Dave Green and Dean Stockdale. Prestigious jazz festival engagements include Brecon, Buxton, Cheltenham, Scarborough and Swanage.

No less an authority than Alyn Shipton (Jazz Record Requests, BBC Radio 3) described Emily as ‘prodigiously talented’. Emily is a rapidly rising star on the British jazz scene and her Lit & Phil debut (with the Dean Stockdale Trio) is set to be a truly memorable occasion. Book your seat(s) now!
