About this event

Friday 19th December | 1pm

A University of Edinburgh graduate, Fraser Urquhart is a leading interpreter of the Great American Songbook. In 2017 Fraser was crowned ‘Rising Star’ at the Scottish Jazz Awards. Early career opportunities at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival and Glasgow International Jazz Festival proved invaluable, raising the profile of the Edinburgh-born pianist. Relocating to London, Fraser rapidly established himself on the capital’s highly competitive jazz scene, performing at Ronnie Scott’s, Soho Pizza Express and Wigmore Hall. Fraser said of his Wigmore Hall debut as accompanist to Stella Cole: A dream come true, I’ll never ever forget it!

The Gil Scott-Heron Songbook (co-leading a quartet with Aki Remally) toured widely during 2024 (including a concert at Gosforth Civic Theatre). A Frank Sinatra aficionado, Fraser is pianist to Sam Furlonger’s Frankly Sinatra and Richard Shelton’s Sinatra Raw. Fraser’s recordings include Sure of You (a duo album with Georgia Cécile), violinist Matt Holborn’s For Stuff and the 2025 digital-only release I Leave This at Your Ear (featuring bassist Lorenzo Morabito and drummer Max Popp). Fraser returns to the Lit & Phil to present a rare solo piano concert. Book online, it’ll make the ideal Christmas gift!
