28th September

Irena Kossakowski, author and artist

Irena Kossakowski will talk about her debut book A Homeland Denied which follows the horrific journey of Waclaw Kossakowski, a young Warsaw University student whose peaceful life was changed dramatically and with far reaching consequences that fateful day of 1st September, 1939. From imprisonment in the notorious Kozelsk prison to the forced labour camp in the Siberian Arctic Circle, this dramatic and poignant story is recounted in vivid detail and documents a tragic period in the history of the Polish people in Europe. Copies will be available for purchase.

5th October

Nikki Copleston, author

Nikki Copleston will share in this lecture how she started writing crime books and the process of creating Detective Inspector Jeff Lincoln, the main character of her books. Books will be available to purchase.

12th October

Graham Scott, archaeologist

The American Civil War of the 1860s led to the abolition of slavery in the USA. Graham Scott will tell the surprising story of a Bristol Channel shipwreck wreck that was part of a clandestine effort by British businessmen, shipbuilders and seamen to help the slave-owning Confederate States survive.

Edson Burton, artist, writer & historian

Edson Burton will be talking about the development of ‘The Last Blues Song of a Lost Afronaut’ - an immersive theatre show about the discovery of an archaic device on a lifeless planet leading an Afronaut explorer to question the origins of their civilization. (There will also be an opportunity to register for writing workshops with Edson.)

The Librarian Theatre Company

The directors and actors from The Librarian Theatre Company will share the creative process behind their next show – Alice Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. (Performances of Alice Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Wick Road Library: 2nd Nov, Central Library: 3rd Nov, Bishopton Library: 9th Nov)
