WE ARE TAKING A SUMMER BREAK FROM LUNCHTIME LECTURES AND WILL BE RETURNING IN SEPTEMBER!

6th September

Sue Palmer, artist

On Thursday 13th September, artists Sue Palmer and Sheila Ghelani are bringing their ‘show and tell’ Common Salt to Bristol Library. Common Salt, a performance around a table, explores the colonial, geographical history of England and India taking an expansive and emotional time-travel, from the first Enclosure Act and the start of the East India Company in the 1600s, to 21st century narratives of trade, race and culture. Sue will talk about the research, stories and books that have influenced and shaped Common Salt, from Roy Moxham's 'The Great Hedge of India', to naturalist Elizabeth Brightwen's books, revealing the interconnectedness between nature, money and power.
