Description

Discover what happened to Britons living in Russia around the time of the 1917 Russian Revolution in this free talk.

The security and happiness the British community had enjoyed in Russia since the 18th century were shattered when they lost everything after the Bolshevik seizure of power in 1917 and were repatriated to a home country some of them barely knew.

Join Richard Davies, curator of the Caught in the Russian Revolution exhibition and archivist and founder of the Leeds Russian Archive, as he discusses what happened to Britons living in Russia around the time of the Revolution in 1917.

The Lunchtime Talk series is a collaboration between Leeds City Council, Leeds Central Library and Leeds Univeristy's Brotherton Library, which delivers free monthly talks exploring at a diverse range of topics and subjects delivered by researchers and staff who work with their collections
