A new sculpture by Anthony Padgett, Boy with Dove, was unveiled in Weston Park this year, to mark the 75th anniversary of Pablo Picasso's visit to Sheffield for the 1950 World Peace Congress.

Hear from Anthony how this commission came together with support from the International Brigade Memorial Trust, the Basque Children's Association UK '37 and the Sheffield Trades Council, to mark the occasion.

Anthony will delve into the history of the visit, covering the Spanish Civil War, Picasso's famous painting Guernica, and his peace activism and work with the Communist party, while looking at this pivotal event in the history of pre- and post-war Sheffield.
