Event description

Description

Dr Dave Simonds and Dr Martin Borthwick from the University of Plymouth’s School of Engineering reveal how modern civil engineering is tackling the problem of protecting coastal communities from the sea.

Using the ongoing research undertaken by the University’s COAST Research Group and their experience from working in the field, they will highlight the challenges faced by civil engineers who try to tame our seas.

They will also explore some of the state of the art approaches currently being used to design and construct the structures that protect our shorelines.

£2 per person. Booking is advised.
