Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Join Dr Alaric Hall as he discusses what Leeds University Library's Special Collections tell us about how the scholarship and friendships that Tolkien formed while at Leeds University informed his creative writing.

This is a story that involves intercontinental migration, class prejudices, and the struggles of women to be accepted as scholars.

The Lunchtime Talk series is a collaboration between Leeds City Council, Leeds Central Library and Leeds University Library Special Collections, which delivers free monthly talks exploring at a diverse range of topics and subjects delivered by researchers and staff who work with their collections
