A walk through the Lund Botanical gardens to explore the edible and medicinal plants and trees in the cultivated gardens.

About this event

We will explore the plants and the trees, (and fungi too if we find any), from an edible, medicinal and ecological perspective.

As an example, we could look at how Birch leaves can used as a salad vegetable or steeped in hot water to make a medicinal tea. We could talk about how to tap the tree for sap and how the bark was used by the Saami used to treat wounds, and why from a medical and pharmaceutical persepective that makes clinical sense!!

We could also talk about how Birch trees colonise bare land as 'pioneer' species to re-forest the land after a major disturbance.

Please join for a unique blend of disciplines coming together to celebrate the beauty of Nature
