About Jake, @jaffathecake
Jake works in Google Chrome's developer relations team, working on specs, implementations, and ensuring developers have tools to make their jobs less painful. He's a big fan of time-to-render optimisations, offline-first, progressive enhancement, and all of that responsive stuff.
"Travelling Through Pipes and Flying Through the Air; the
mobile network and the need for Offline" by Natasha Rooney
The web is on mobile. Hurrah! But with this great innovation
comes a need for all web developers to understand the woes of the Mobile
Network. Natasha will take us through the issues of running web apps on
the mobile network and go through some of the great guidelines available
to work towards a better user experience. We¹ll look at some of the new
APIs which are trying to tackle intermittent connection issues and have a
short introduction to some of the existing work on taking the web offline.
About Natasha, @thisNatasha
Natasha is a supporter of the open web and advocate of HTML5.
She works as a Web Technologist at the GSMA where she sits on large
technical projects and gives advice on working within the web. She is also
the co-chair of the W3C Web and Mobile Interest Group. Outside of the
glorious web Natasha is a Japan fantatic, loving everything from anime,
video games, food, culture and daily life. She¹ll be living in Japan from
