Finding fossils at Lyme Regis Museum
At 11am Casey, the palaeontologist, will give us a private tour of the Fossil Gallery at Lyme Regis Museum. This will last about an hour, after which you are welcome to explore the rest of the museum before finding somewhere to have your lunch. There are many cafes, fish and chip shops very near the museum as well as a Tesco supermarket and a Cornish Bakery. There are lovely spots to enjoy a picnic too!
Milling flour at Lyme Regis Town Mill
At 2pm we will meet at Lyme Regis Town Mill where we will visit the Miller inside the Mill and watch a flour milling demonstration. Then we will go to the quiet, studio space where the children (and adults!) can have a go at milling their own flour using the mini hand milling machines.
Please note: There will be some noise in the Mill, especially when the water wheel starts up and the stones start turning for milling. The Mill is also a little dark and very old so expect some different sights and smells. Youn may wish to bring ear defenders if your child is particularly sensitive. There are also be a number of steps to access the Mill and the studio space for the mini milling.
Parking: The nearest car parks are Broad Street Car Park and Cobb Gate Car Park. Charmouth Road Car Park is the nearest Long Stay Option. The X51 and X53 buses run from Bridport to Lyme Regis.
