LYSC Summer Schools: Cosmetic chemistry (age 7–9)
Mon 7 August 2017, 11:00 – 15:00 BST
Students will investigate the difference between acidic and alkaline solutions, and how they can neutralise each other in a reaction by forming a salt. The workshop allows them to observe the properties of oils and waxes and how they are able to dissolve into one another, giving them a better understanding of the chemical processes behind the manufacture of toiletries such as bath bombs and lip balms. This workshop is a great introduction to pH, neutralisation, solubility and changes.
Please note: This workshop is strictly for 7–9 year-olds only. Discounted tickets are available to Ri Members. Find out more about how to join.
Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
