LYSC Summer Schools: Crash testing (age 13–15)
Fri 25 August 2017, 11:00 – 15:00 BST
This workshop helps students learn about vehicle safety and forces in a very practical way. Students will be building and crash testing a vehicle on a specially designed rig. They shall redesign and build their own model car with the aim to produce a weaker crumple zone and stronger passenger cell, the aim being to keep their egg passenger alive!
Students will analyse the results of their efforts using high speed photography and accelerometers fitted to the test vehicle. This workshop was developed with Dinos Visvikis of the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL).
Please note: This workshop is strictly for 13–15 year-olds only. This workshop will include a 30 minute unsupervised lunch break. Discounted tickets are available to Ri Members. Find out more about how to join.
Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
