M. R. Mackenzie is one of the rising stars of contemporary crime fiction. His first novel, In the Silence, has been shortlisted for the 2019 McIlvanney Debut Prize. He will be discussing his books In the Silence and Cruel Summer at Alexandria Library. This is a great opportunity to meet a writer who is sure to become a leading name in the illustrious pantheon of Scottish crime writing.
M.R. Mackenzie was born and lives in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied at Glasgow University and has an MA in English and a PhD in Film Studies.
In addition to writing, he works as an independent producer and has overseen Blu-ray and DVD releases of films by a number of acclaimed directors, among them Dario Argento, Joe Dante, Hideo Nakata and Jacques Tourneur. He has contributed chapters to books on cult cinema and regularly provides video essays and liner notes for new releases of cult films.
