Welcome to Freshwalks, connecting business people in the great outdoors. This challenging walk starts in the magnificent setting of Macclesfield Forest and finishes just outside Leek, Staffordshire.
The route takes in many of the South West Peak District's finest highlights, including 'the Matterhorn of Cheshire', Shutlingsloe, the waterfalls and plunge pool at Three Shires Head, the chasm at Lud's Church and the peaks and pools of The Roaches - a near perfect linear walk across three counties for the dedicated Freshwalker.
By car
Park at Trentabank Reservoir, optional shared minibus return to car park later on.
By train
Take the 08:27 train from Manchester Piccadilly (calling at Stockport 08:36) to arrive in Macclesfield at 08:48. Shared taxi transfers to Trentabank Reservoir car park and minibus return to station later on.
The walk will start at 09:15 and end at the excellent pub, the Lazy Trout, just outside Leek, between 16:00 and 16:30. You will need to organise your own pick-up or return transport to your starting point if not selecting our transport ticket options.
Transport ticket options
Your Freshwalks & transport ticket option includes a short taxi transfer from Macclesfield train station to Trentabank Reservoir car park as well as a return minibus from the pub back to the station and car park afterwards. There will be a couple of staggered minibus runs and nobody left behind.
This one is going to be very special - don't miss out. Return minibus places will be limited.
Don't forget, you will need to bring a good supply of drinking water and packed lunch though we hope to be able to stop at The Cafe at Gradbach halfway through.
More information will be supplied in the week before the walk which will be led by Martin Murphy.
Hope you can join us, Michael.
