Day 1: Introduction to R for Machine Learning
If you are a beginner in R and want to get going with Machine Learning, then this course is for you. Based on a series of case studies, you will naturally and easily learn key skills in R. These skills will enable you to start to read, visualise and analyse data, and in addition they will give you the confidence and pre-requisites to progress to learning and carrying out Machine Learning analysis with the R language.
Day 2: Machine Learning Concepts
If you are just getting started with Machine Learning, or you have used some of the techniques but do not have a thorough understanding of they key concepts, then this course is for you. You will gain an understanding of the key building blocks in Machine Learning, enabling you to better understand and apply the many techniques available. This interactive course, delivered over one day will also cover the basics of good programming practice in R.
Day 3: Penalised Regression
For anyone using Generalised Linear Models, Penalised Regression is the way forward. Providing accuracy far beyond traditional GLMs and with a great degree of automation, this method allows you to produce better models. Quicker. This one day interactive course gives you all the background you need to get going with this exciting technique.
Day 4: Trees, Random Forests and Gradient Boosting Machines
For those with a good grasp of basic Machine Learning concepts as well as some knowledge of R, this one day interactive course covers some of the most powerful techniques used in Supervised Learning. You will understand how to build models with cutting edge performance and know which R packages are best suited to your needs.
Alan and Tony provided three days of training to an established pricing team as well as a newly formed data science team at a personal lines insurer. Between them they have an excellent knowledge of machine learning techniques as well as a good understanding of the wider insurance market. They delivered an excellent overview of machine learning with several useful practical examples and worked exercises in R.
