Event description

Description

This workshop is aimed at DSLR and CSC/mirrorless camera owners who'd like to explore macro and close-up photography (the distinction comes from the type of lens used). All experience levels are welcome.

To get the most from this learning experience, you'll either need a macro lens, or some other lens which allows you to focus on subjects the camera is quite close to. Having the option of a wide aperture (low f-number) is useful, for creating bokeh textures in your compositions. It's also possible to get good results from a long lens, especially at a wide aperture.

We'll work with whatever flora and fauna is in season and available on the day, but I'll give you tips for things you can photograph all year round, using these techniques.

If you have a reflector, a ring light/flash, or speedlite, please bring it. We'll incorporate it into the shoot where appropriate.

We'll meet at Bowlees Visitor Centre, and head to a nearby area on foot (not Low Force!), where there's an abundance of interesting small creatures and plants to photograph.

Numbers are restricted to 12 photographers, so that you get plenty of individual support.

Please note that in order to keep prices down, bookings are non-refundable if you're unable to come (but it may possible to transfer it to someone else, upon request). In the event of adverse weather, the workshop will be postponed, and you will be offered suitable alternatives.

Book early to secure your place.
