Join us for an amateur photography course using smartphones and macro-lenses, taking time to connect with nature and wildlife.
Macro photography is a fantastic mindfulness activity, allowing you to slow down and observe what's around you.
The course will be led by local professional photographer and videographer, Simon Watts, of Wild Presentations.
Macro lenses will be provided. Please bring:
- Your smartphone with enough battery charge!
- Dress suitably for being outdoors in variable weather
- Suncream and insect repellent is advised
- A water bottle and any other refreshments you may need.

- Composition and perspective
- Lures - how to draw the nature in ...peanuts anyone?!
- Light and how to use it
- Story telling
- Bugs!!
- Sharing photos
- Intro to lenses
- Failure - they don't know what you don't show them!!
Following the course, we will be holding a Summer Fun Day at Hams Hall Environmental Centre, with family-friendly activities such as pond dipping, willow weaving, nature crafts and more! Course attendees are more than welcome to stay on for the day.

Booking information
Booking is essential, and a £5 refundable deposit will be taken on booking, this is to avoid last-minute cancellations.
The £5 deposit will be refunded for those who attend the course. Refunds can be received for cancellations up to 7 days before the course date.
We want this course to be as accessible as possible. If you would like to attend but are having trouble with the deposit payment, please contact emily.reilly@wkwt.org.uk.
Age limits
This course is aimed at adults, but children (under 18) will be welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult. You will not need to book tickets for under 18s.
Venue information
Toilets, hand washing facilities, and indoor spaces are available at Hams Hall Environmental Centre.
