Discover the fascinating world of fungi and plants.
Hi, I’m Ladislav (Lad for short). I grew up in Slovakia, where mushroom picking is almost a national sport. My fascination with fungi started in childhood and grew into a lifelong passion. In this event I am combining years of experience in photography with my passion for fungi—and I’d love to share that passion with you.
What to Expect
Join us for a relaxed woodland wander where you’ll discover the hidden world of fungi — and learn how to capture it beautifully with your camera or phone. Along the way, we will:
- Learn how to confidently find and recognise wild mushrooms in a variety of habitats.
- Discover beginner-friendly ways to photograph fungi, even with just your phone — no fancy gear needed.
- Get tips on composition, focus and lighting so your close-ups look vibrant and detailed.
- Learn the basics of fungi identification — key features, shapes and colours — using guidebooks and simple apps.
- Hear fascinating facts and folklore about fungi, making each photo more meaningful.
- Explore other seasonal treasures like moss, lichens, berries and autumn textures to photograph.
- Slow down and connect with nature, turning the walk into a mindful, creative experience.
- Leave with beautiful shots and new skills you can use on your next woodland walk.
We’ll take a gentle circular walk, moving at a slow pace so there’s plenty of time to stop, explore, and ask questions. If we are lucky, we’ll have the chance to collect some of the more abundant finds to cook and enjoy at home.

Disclaimer
- What we find on each foraging walk depends on many factors such as season, habitat, and timing. Every walk is unique, and results always vary.
- Foraging carries inherent risks, including the possibility of encountering poisonous species. While we will discuss how to identify edible and poisonous species, it is your responsibility to never consume anything you are unsure about.
