4:30 - 6:30 PM at The Showroom
Held on third Tuesday of the month: Tuesday 15 July, 19 August, 16 September, 21 October, 18 November, 16 December
Spaces still available for under 30s: £25 for 5 remaining sessions / concessions are available.
Are you under 30 or over 60? Join our intergenerational textile workshop series for an opportunity to create together, build connections and share.
Led by artist Kim Chin, this workshop will provide a space for intergenerational dialogue and creative expression through stitching, natural dye prints, embroidery and collage. In slow and collective making sessions, we will discuss themes such as climate emergency, our relationship with nature, collective care, and social empathy, within the context of The Showroom’s exhibition programme.
“Delineating what is inside or outside of our control, with or without others, can invite space for unpredictable memories and emotions - attuned diligence supports well-being. If we are tender with people - allowing room to grow from mistakes, and firm with the parameters that will safeguard common space, together we can embolden care for all. These small practices will spill onto all we touch, building steps towards the change we want to live.” Kim Chin
No previous stitching experience necessary. Materials and refreshments will be provided.
About the sessions
Participants are encouraged to commit to attending all monthly sessions. The Showroom is dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all members of our community and can offer concessions. Please contact Magda Araus at magdalena@theshowroom.org if you are interested in taking part in the workshops but are unable to commit to the full 6 months or would like a concessionary booking.
