Who are European Writers Salon?

We are a volunteer group of writers organising events for other writers. Our mission is simple - Connecting Writers in Europe. We run a large annual event and lots of mini events. This is our first trip to Madrid. Find out more about us at www.saloneurope.org.

Where will people be coming from?

We hope that many writers from Madrid will come and also that others will travel from across Europe to meet one another. Everyone is welcome, from anywhere.

Will you provide food and drink?

No food this time, sorry! But wine and soft drinks are included. We will facilitate opportunities for people to meet and eat before/after.

Will you provide accommodation?

No - you are responsible for all travel and accommodation. Nearer the time we will set up a slack or discord channel so people can discuss accommodation options and we will send out an email with information.

Will there be anything else going on in Madrid while I am there?

Yes, we will organise other activities e.g. a writing group on Friday morning.  We will also set up a slack or discord channel nearer the time so people can arrange meet-ups/writing sessions/museum visits etc.

Definitely not - you are welcome to come and listen.

Once you have booked, we will send you a form to complete if you want to read at the salon.

All. Any. We welcome all writers in all genres at any stage of your career. If you want to come, we want to meet you.

Who is this event for? Do I have to be European?

It's for everyone who wants to come. Live in Europe - great. Visiting Europe - great. From Europe but living elsewhere - great. You're all welcome. Whatever sort of writer, wherever you're from, whoever you know - we want to meet you!

Can you explain the different ticket prices?

There are 3 options: General Admission, Subsidised (please only buy one of these if you need it), Admission plus donation (helps us to provide drinks and cover our costs). Please choose the one that suits you. Thank you so much!

What COVID precautions will you be taking?

EWS wants to ensure our events are as accessible as possible for all. We follow WHO guidelines and will therefore provide masks for those who wish to wear them. We encourage people to test in advance and avoid coming if they have any symptoms.
