Over those ten years (and 15 issues), MacGuffin has established itself as an inspirational and highly influential fixture in the world of indie mags.
Subtitled ‘The Life of Things,’ each issue uses a single item—The Bed, The Ball, The Letter, etc—as the starting point for a broader investigation of the world around us. Stories have taken on sociology, politics, science, design, archeology and history to name just a few of the disciplines the magazine has employed. As well as being conceptually brilliant, it is also wonderfully executed in terms of edit and design, and is itself a beautiful Thing.
Kirsten and Ernst will be looking back over those ten years, and celebrating the arrival of issue 15, ‘The Stitch.’ But they won’t just be basking in their success to date—three guests will be suggesting their own future Things for the magazine to cover: contributors Liv Sidall, and Eliot Haworth, and our own Jeremy Leslie.
