magCulture Meets Pit

Pit magazine is back with an issue devoted to American food.

We’re delighted to welcome editor Helen Graves, art director Holly Catford and director of photography Robert Billingham from the magazine, plus guest editor Anna Ansari, to talk through the new issue, a special dedicated to the food of America. That’s the great big US of A—a country becoming ever more subject to a love-hate relationship with the rest of the world.

Although a celebration of the many types of food and eating in the country, the magazine doesn’t duck the political questions surrounding food and health, as the Trump administration pulls back the regulation of food and drugs.

Impeccably compiled and designed, Pit is a deceptive magazine; it feels small and slight, but open its pages and you’ll find them buzzing with great stories and brilliant imagery, broight to life by brilliant page design.

As well as talking about the new issue, the team will discuss the history of their magazine, and perhaps even look a little at its future. We’ll also have the first copies of the new issue available to buy.

Timings

Doors open at 6:30pm, the talk starts at 7pm and generally lasts until 7:45/8pm. We welcome you to stay afterwards for a drink, chat and browse. We usually wrap up around 8:30.

Accessibility

The magCulture shop is accessible by wheelchair (please let us know if you require a wheelchair space.) We have one gender-neutral bathroom; please note this bathroom is small and not wheelchair-accessible.

For the talk, we have a mix of stools and seats with backrests, if you require a seat with a backrest please ask a member of staff and one will be provided.
