Magic Bear Singing Workshop
Event Information
Description
Here's the plan; we are surrounded by the forces of evil, they're closing in... There's only one option.... we need to sing our way out of this.
You with us?
We are steadily, neh STEALTHILY, approaching the culmination of a brand new long playing collection of Hope and Social songs. An album I think we'll call it! A brand spanking new album. In the making.
We have given her the audacious working title of "Gimli, The Magic Bear", and she needs you!
She needs voices. A throng of voices. Singing out. To make our record sound more expensive and wonderful than it actually is.
When we have done this before, the energy from it has sounded superb on the recording and we've had a ball doing it, so lets do it again. But this time we're going to be...
Taking it up a notch!
This time we want to get more badass on this thing. We wanna make a proper choir... More parts, more voices, and more voice training. We want to give you an introduction to singing in a group, because singing in a group feels so GOOOOOOD, and because this album needs that. This is gonna be like the Millitary Wives choir but with a much smaller budget and with James Hamilton instead of Gareth Malone.
They're very similar in height.
There will hopefully be less crying.
James, Ed and Gary (the business end of things) will be joined by some very talented *real* singers who have so kindly agreed to guide us through our little bit of fun. We fully expect to learn some stuff and hopefully it will be instrumental in making Ed's voice finally break or at least find a range where he can dependably hold a note for more than a heartbeat..
This is a free event, you just need to reserve your tickets so we know numbers. You do not need to bring or provide tickets to attend. It will be family friendly, and anyone of a singing age, with the necessary attention span, is welcome. Those without the necessary attention span (adult or child) who are happy to sit in a corner with a Nintendo DS, trying to hack into your online banking under the banner of "Can I play Angry Birds mum?" or just lookiing at a sparkly thing are also welcome. (WARNING. Must be able to be quiet on request.) Please be aware that we cannot take responsibility for unsupervised children or pets. We are terrible childminders.
Food
For lunch we propose a "bring and share" buffet. Feel free to surprise us with your "Childhood Favourites". Just bring along a dish which reminds you of your childhood, or a family favourite, to share. Should be.....interesting. Denison can finally unleash a platter of his *legendary* cheese and marmalade sandwiches.
Tea, coffee, juice, biscuits and an introduction to singing will be provided.
The event will run from 11am to roughly 4pm (hopefully earlier) with frequent breaks.
Huge thanks to All Hallows for letting us use the space.
All Hallows is just 5 minutes walk from the Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, Leeds. Parking is available. We think.
That’s the plan. A Saturday afternoon full of song and cheese and pineapple on sticks.
Love love love
