Single Justice Procedure moves to 3:1 operating model
The current approach involves a single magistrate sitting alongside a legal adviser. The new operating model enables up to 3 magistrates to work alongside a legal adviser at the same time.
Under this new 3:1 model, magistrates will result and submit cases directly onto Common Platform, carrying out administrative work previously undertaken by legal advisers. The rest of the process, and the way in which magistrates make decisions about Single Justice cases, will remain unchanged.
