Event description

Description

Session Description:

This session, which is based on the work of Professor Will Hopkins, will compare the traditional statistical approach on null-hypothesis significance testing (NHST) via p values and statistical significance with magnitude-based inferences (MBI). The traditional method is increasingly being criticised due to an inability to provide conclusions about the magnitude of effects. The MBI method is easier to understand and outperforms NHST in terms of sample sizes, error rates, and publication bias. This is a session that anyone struggling with statistics should attend.

Who is this session for?

All members of the Post Graduate Research community can attend, however as this is part of the IHR/IASR training programme, students from IHR/IASR have priority over students located in other institutes.

Who is delivering the training?

Prof David Hewson

How long does the training last for?
