Event description
This 10km walk will follow the Wales Coastal Path, taking us along the Gwent Coast from Magor to Goldcliff.

About this Event

This lovely walk is timed to coincide with high tide so that the wealth of wintering waders and wildfowl that abound in the Severn Estuary will be pushed up closer to the sea wall and much easier to see. We should also get to see the first spring migrants making landfall along the coast of Wales as they travel north to breed. Previous years have had highlights of Marsh Harrier and Glossy Ibis as well as the tumbling display flights of Lapwing.

It is on a spring day so will hopefully be pleasantly warm and sunny, however winter could easily rear its head and we will be following potentially muddy paths so please wrap up warm and be mindful of the possible need for waterproofs and wellies. The walk is flat but there may be stiles that need climbing. We would recommend bringing lunch (we will stop somewhere scenic along the way) to keep you fuelled, binoculars and a bird field guide. The event is limited to 15 participants, dogs are not allowed.

The walk is one way and we will arrange transport back to Magor Marsh from Goldcliff.
