Description

Magritte’s Umbrella: Drawing Upon the Subconscious

Stewart Geddes PRWA

3-day workshop

Friday 16 and Saturday 17 March, 10am – 3pm, and Sunday 18 March, 11am – 4pm

Rene Magritte once drew a line, up and down, in the same place for around an hour. Eventually, an umbrella formed itself out of the densely packed tangle of lines. This three day course will focus on ‘finding’ structures, patterns, forms and objects through making marks, lines and gestures. Working on large surfaces, the workshop will encourage students to engage with the subconscious and create images from seemingly random patterns and textures.
