Mainstream CEN London and Eastern Region Meeting: Social Communication
Tue 2 May 2017, 09:00 – 16:15 BST
This meeting is aimed at Speech & Language Therapists working in mainstream schools. The focus of the meeting will be social communication with a presentation from Jacqueline Gaile, co-author of the evidence based Social Communication Intervention Programme (SCIP) Intervention Manual. The SCIP Intervention Manual contains over 300 individual activities each with aims, success criteria and potential resources. It contains a procedure for intervention decision making and allows for individualised treatment planning.
The afternoon session will focus on lightening talks given by members on successes in social communication and service delivery.
There will also be a short presentation from The Communication Trust on the Speech, Language and Communication Framework - a free online CPD tool SLTs can use with Teachers, Teaching Assistants and SENCos. The framework outlines the skills and knowledge required in order to identify and support children and young people's speech, language and communication and helps to highlight learning needs.
