Description

P&P includes several departments with their own specialisms. Philanthropy and Campaign (P&C) is expert in developing relationships with high net worth individuals, and their influencers, in order to solicit the biggest donations to the charity. This long-term relationship fundraising requires many skills; research, rapport building, listening, subjective judgement skills, negotiation and so on. The context for this training is to share some of the tips and tricks of our trade to interested colleagues across P&P. This will provide a stimulus for discussions within their own teams on what they can steal, borrow and adapt. As a secondary objective, by sharing more of P&C’s work across the directorate we will benefit from the good ideas and knowledge of our colleagues and we envisage there may be scope spot cross collaborative opportunities.

Learning objectives

By the end of the session attendees will:

  1. Have enjoyed an interactive and thought-provoking learning experience where colleagues benefit from in-house expertise.

  2. Understand more about wealth and philanthropy in the UK

  3. Have knowledge of the 7 stages of cultivation

  4. Have taken a deeper dive into some of the tricker parts of major gift fundraising

  5. Have had a chance to think about how you can apply what you have learnt today back in your day job!
