MAKATON Level 1 (2 Sessions)

Level 1 training is made up of two modules which will be delivered across two sessions, the second session will be held on Wednesday 22nd October. Please note that you must attend both sessions.

Ideal for:

• Parents, family members, carers and practitioners who need to use Makaton at home and in their work.
• Participants who need a more detailed knowledge about using and applying Makaton to develop the communication skills of others.

Content:

• Level 1 training provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme.

• Sessions include discussing commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.

• You will also learn the signs and symbols from Stages 1 and 2, and some of the Additional stage, of the Core Vocabulary.

• You will receive the participants manual, containing the presentations, signs, symbols and activities. This will be sent to you via post when you book onto the course.

Please note: This course will be run as an online training session via MS Teams. When you book, you will receive information about how to access the training and how the session will be run.

Please note that our training courses and workshops are designed to be interactive, to ensure participants get the most from the session. With this in mind, we ask that you check to ensure that both your camera and microphone are working prior to the course.

Each person attending the training needs to purchase an individual ticket. Additional participants who have not bought a ticket are not allowed to sit and watch the training, either in or out of the camera view, and will be asked to leave.

• More than 2 weeks before the start date – no charge/full refund.
• Less than 2 weeks before the start date – full charge applies.

Transfer policy:

• You may transfer your place on a course to an alternative participant or to an alternative date at any time prior to the start date but please inform us of the change.
• Failure to attend a course will not entitle you to transfer to another course/date and neither will you be able to transfer your place to others.
