Level 2 Makaton Workshop, teaching stages 3 & 4 of the Core Vocabulary Signs & Symbols.
Level 2 Workshop is the next step of your Makaton journey after completing Level 1. It is recommended for people who need to use Makaton at home and in their work, to develop the communication skills of others.
Online workshops are delivered in real time in a virtual meeting room via Zoom.
Level 2 training provides practical information of the Makaton Language Programme and a wider understanding of learning and communication difficulties.
The Level 2 Workshop include how to start using Makaton in everyday situations; immediate needs, home, familiar people, food, events, activities and objects. You will also discover hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use to maximise communication.
Online workshops comprise of approximately seven learning hours. Please note timings of the day may vary depending on group size & previous experience or knowledge.
The entry criteria for this Workshop is previous completion of Level 1 (you will be asked to send a photo of your Level 1 certificate via email). Participants must be over 16 years of age. Please raise at time of booking if you have any challenges or additional needs, so reasonable adjustments can be made to support your learning & participation.
You will receive a Participant's Manual, which includes the Makaton symbols and signs that you learn in the workshop.
You will also be given a certificate of attendance. Please remember to keep your Level 2 training certificate in case you want to attend further Makaton training.
After completing Level 2 training you can continue on your Makaton journey by attending Level 3 training.
You will need a good internet connection to ensure Zoom works well, as well as a big enough screen to see all participants (this can be up to 11 others). Ideally, a computer/laptop screen with camera and microphone function, as you will need to be seen and heard clearly for assessment of your signing. Mobile phones are NOT suitable as you will need both hands free and visible throughout the workshop and during group activities you will need to see all participants.
Please ensure your environment is quiet and distraction free.
I will email you to confirm your place and request your postal address for your participant manual to be sent through the post ahead of the workshop. Please look out for this email as failure to provide a postal address in sufficient time will mean you are unable to proceed through the workshop without your participant manual.
Please note that bookings close two full weeks prior to the workshop date to allow ample time for your participant manual to arrive.
