Make a Lampshade using Maps with Florence Makes

By Swarthmore Education Centre

Overview

Using a selection of vintage Ordnance Survey maps, create your very own sculptural lampshade.

Under the careful guidance of designer/maker Florence, you will be shown how to hand-manipulate a selection of Ordnance Survey* maps to create a beautiful geometric shade. Each shade will be completely unique and can be used with a table lampstand or as a small ceiling shade.

*For this workshop you can request specific map locations - perhaps of a special place you live in or love to visit

Please make these requests no later than 2 weeks before the workshop date (email florencemakes@outlook.com to arrange this)

Be aware that the maps will be cut up as part of the construction process. Alternatively, you can use the general Ordnance Survey map selection provided by Florence.

You can check out more of Florence's work here.

Please note - this workshop is suitable for beginners but they must be 18+
