About this event

Arts • Craft

A one-day workshop with metalwork artist Philippa Johnston to create a wreath out of recycled biscuit tins that you can hang in your house year-round.

Have fun creating a wreath out of old recycled biscuit tins. Go traditional with ivy and holly leaves, red berries and bow, or opt for a more contemporary look with colourful flowers and wacky leaves. We’ll be wiring the flowers and leaves onto a strong wire base so no soldering or pop riveting involved. You’ll come away at the end of the day with a wreath that is very much yours. Plenty of examples will be on hand for inspiration along with templates you can use but do bring along any designs of your own together with any tins you would like to incorporate (which Philippa will open up for you).

All materials and tools will be supplied. No experience required – just come and have fun in this friendly and informal class. Suitable for 18+.

Philippa Johnston is a metalwork artist based in Dunning in Perthshire who works sculpturally with recycled tin, wire, clay and other materials. Her work reflects her love of animals and birds and her fascination with folk and children’s art. She also likes colour – and lots of it! Philippa opens the doors to her studio each September as part of Perthshire Open Studios. Catch up with what she’s doing on Instagram @philippajohnston257
