In this full day workshop you will make a Roman blind ready to hang and continue throughout your home. Basic sewing machine skill required.
About this event
About the day....
This is a one-day Roman Blind workshop in which you will learn how to measure for and make a hand finished, lined and interlined roman blind to a professional standard. You will look at suitable fabrics, different types of lining and trims and discuss Child Safety regulations.
You will be making a small blind for reference or a blind for a small single window in your home

* Very basic sewing machine knowledge is required. *
What Fabric to bring
- Please bring a piece of Cotton based fabric. No upholstery weight fabric.
- You will need to measure the area you wish to cover - in or out of the recess.
- Dimensions 20cm longer than your drop and 10cm wider than your width.
- If you have a feature pattern you will need have enough length to allow for feature inclusion.
- UN SUITABLE = Silk and horizontal stripes. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure. We use and recommend popping next door to George Clark, for a beautiful and wide selection of fabrics to purchase Please bring a piece of Cotton based fabric. No upholstery weight fabric.

- Sue will also have a fabric available on the day for £20 cash. Arrive at 8.45am for this.
- To keep our costs as reasonable as possible please bring a packed lunch with you- refreshments available all day.
Preferable / Optional to bring
- Please bring your own iron and sewing machine that you are familiar it. (This saves time waiting in turn and sanitising )
- A sewing kit. (Sharp scissors small and large, metal/fabric tape measure, needles and pins with some neutral thread) We have some available
- Note book and pen. A hand out is also given.
- Cash for any add-ons like interlining and fabric
- Calculator. Mobile phones usually have this and a camera which may photograph your steps
Advice
N.B Places are limited to 6 for safe distancing and individual guidance
You will need to inform us of your measurements prior to the day for us to provide your complimentary blind rods.
Please arrive by 9.15 for a prompt start.

Windows will be opened to allow air flow . ( The heat will be on, but dress accordingly)
We do ask that you do a LFT prior to attending. If you have a positive test result we will offer the same workshop on a different date
