Make a Snow Globe Embroidery Sampler - with Marna Lunt
Saturday 26 November
Only 15 places available
As part of the Weekend of the Maker embroidery artist Marna Lunt will be running a fun and bright embroidery sampler workshop using her favourite collections of snow globes as inspiration.
Using screen-printed designs on linen taken from hand drawings of Marna's (extensive!) collection, you will learn loads of stitches to make fun textural pictures and a bit of appliqué thrown in. You'll learn the techniques Marna uses in her own work and have a day to ask any questions about how her work has developed, working with the BBC and national magazines and all about thread therapy.
You will go away with a fabulous embroidery cushion panel to use, frame or display, or there will bit lots of smaller designs to make into bright and cheerful pin cushions.
Over the day, you'll learn how to make different embroidery stitches, how to make pom poms and tassels to edge the work, how to make envelope-fold cushions and the various techniques Marna uses in her work. You will receive one-to-one advice from Marna to develop your design ideas and help with colour and individuality. You'll also be given hand-outs to take home showing different stitches, suppliers and some how-to projects.
The workshop will take place in the new markerspace at Roco, and we have allowed an hour for lunch to give you chance to explore, and see all the amazing designers and makers selling their beautiful wares at the Weekend of the Maker Crafty Fox Market and maybe even try out the drop-in macramé workshops going on over the weekend.
Plus if you can stay for the Saturday night we’ll be getting together for an evening social, introduced by founder of folksy.com James Boardwell, where you’ll have a chance to mingle with other makers. We're predicting festive fun and good times.
Once you have booked your ticket we wil be in touch with more details about where to meet and other important stuff.
PLEASE NOTE: lunch is not included in the price of the workshop, but Roco has a very nice café area and does lovely sandwiches.
The cost of materials is included in the ticket price.
