This event is about families or indeed anyone to appreciate nature and undestand a little more about its effects on family wellbeing. Sound maps are a great way to encourage people to slow down and tune in with nature. By taking the emphasis off the visual, and tuning people into the sounds around them, they have proved effective. The invitation will be for you to
- Take a pencil or pen
- Mark yourself in the middle of the sound map
- Find a spot and stand , sit or lie (bring a camping chair, yoga mat, blanket)
- Start to listen to what is making sound around you.
- Mark on the card the sounds you can hear
This is a practice that us to spend mindful time in a wooded green space to improve overall well-being. Forest bathing has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, boost the immune system, and enhance mental clarity. It's a wonderful opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find peace in the tranquility of nature.
We have been leading Japanese nature events called forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, for the last 2 years in Stretford, having started 3 years ago in Sale. This is a practice that involves spending mindful time in a wooded green space to improve overall well-being. We now have We now have 5 forest bathing locations across Trafford. We have a written guide here for community groups who want to learn about setting up their own events.
So come and join us at Victoria Park for this immersive experience. We meet at the park benches by cafe in the park (see picture) at 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start.
This event is suitable for families with small children, who must be fully supervised by a responsible adult. There is also a lovely cafe in the park so why not chat to us there afterwards about how it went?
Since this event is about lying or sitting outside, we may cancel in poor weather, so keep an eye on the weather forcast and bring an extra layer
