Make a Valentines Cyanotype Keepsake
Overview
If you can't take a date, then take a mate along to join our crafty Valentines Day workshop. We'll be making cyanotype pocket shrines as a meaningful keepsake for your self, your memories, and your loved ones.
This special event in The Cabin invites you to explore the stunning medium of cyanotype printing – a historic photographic process that uses sunlight to produce deep blue images.
With guidance from our special guest, Marina Cyanotypes, you'll learn to compose, expose, and develop your own cyanotype prints using natural objects, stencils, and/or personal items.
Once your cyanotypes are complete, we’ll guide you through the process of folding it into your very own pocket shrine, transforming your unique prints into a meaningful keepsake for you or to become a gift for your loved one.
All experience levels are welcome, but please note that we will be handling chemicals as part of the cyanotype process. All materials are provided on the day, but we encourage you to bring along any items you'd like to use as inspiration for your art.
This workshop is longer than our typical monthly offering, due to the development and drying time needed for the cyanotypes, so we will take a 30 minute break during the session where you can unwind and admire everyone's progress.
...and this is also the perfect time to bring out the cake and celebrate not only Valentines Day, but also Marina's birthday! 💙🎂
