Make a Zine in Canva

This workshop will introduce you to the exciting world of zine-making, all using the free and user-friendly software Canva.

Here's what you can expect:

• Gain foundational skills in graphic design layout, digital collage, and experimental art techniques
• Curate a selection of images and text inspired by a randomly generated article, transforming them into a unique, collaborative zine
• We'll provide all the binding materials, and by the end, you'll leave with your very own professionally bound zine

Who’s this for?

Anyone curious about artistic expression and exploring new creative and digital design methods, aged 8 or above.

What do you need to bring:

• You’ll require access to a laptop that can connect to the internet and access Canva (no download or install required)
• If you need to borrow a laptop, please let us know in the sign-up form so we can arrange one for you

Cost

This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email makestuff@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.

About the facilitator

Anna Billany is a Manchester-based digital artist, illustrator, and printmaker. She is a co-owner of the community-led Roots Riso Press in Underbank Studios, where she can be found creating illustrative works inspired by cyberfeminism. Anna uses digital and non-digital techniques to create new creatures and avatars, coming from a love of early internet graphics and fantasy escapism.
