Description

#BEHEARD

You could help to shape the future of personal tutoring by sharing your opinions and taking part in the Make a Zine, Make a Difference campaign.

Come to an informal workshop to find out more!

Make A Zine, Make A Difference

This campaign forms a part of the Raising Awareness, Raising Aspiration (RARA) project currently being piloted at the University of Sheffield. Our aim is to develop an improved approach to personal tutoring, with a view to narrowing the attainment gap* among students from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups and lower-socio economic backgrounds. For more information about the project, please visit www.raratutor.ac.uk

We want to improve personal tutoring so that all students get the support they need, but we need your help to make this happen!

The Competition

We want you to make a zine (small, self-published, D.I.Y magazine) about your experiences of personal tutoring. The zine you make can be as colourful and creative (or not) as you like. The winning zine will be decided by a panel of judges and fellow students!

What do you get?

Not only could you win a prize, you also have the opportunity to showcase your creation at a zine fair and be published across the whole university.

Why bother?

Whether your personal tutor is a friend or a stranger, your experiences matter. Your contribution could help to shape the future of personal tutoring, not only at Sheffield but across the whole country. Did we already mention the prize?

At the workshop, you will be given an opportunity to start making your own zine and have an open discussion about personal tutoring and your experiences. You can share as much or as little as you feel.

Creative resources will be provided along with snacks and refreshments!

Be a part of something, be heard.

*The attainment gap is an unexplained gap in attainment that occurs among certain groups of students in Higher Education. It has no relationship to prior grades and occurs once students are at university. We want to stop this from happening.
