Make Friends With Your Sewing Machine
Wed 26 April 2017, 10:00 – 13:00 BST
Would you like to learn to sew but are afraid of your machine?
Join Sarah Sewell of Wildgoose Designs and make friends with your sewing machine!
Designed for absolute beginners, Sarah will gently guide you through the very basics of using a sewing machine. At Curious? we use Janome 525s - the same machines they use in the Great British Sewing Bee - they are perfect for beginners!
In this 3 hour workshop you will learn:
How to thread the machine and wind the bobbin
How to adjust tension/stitch length/width
What different stitches the machine can produce (and make a sampler as a reminder)
About simple machine maintenance, changing feet/needles etc
How to design and make an envelope cushion
By the end of the workshop you will have designed and sewn a simple envelope cushion and be able to confidently set up a sewing machine ready for your next sewing project!
Cost: £36 including all tuition, equipment, fabric for your sampler, cushion pad, tea/coffee and cake!
NB - you will need to bring approx 1 metre of fabric of your choice to make your cushion (medium weight cotton/poly cotton is ideal) - if you are unsure about your fabric choice please do email us.
If you would prefer to pay by cheque or bank transfer please let us know by email.
