Make it Digital: simple apps to inspire learners

Thursday, 17 October 2019, 09:30–16:00, Big Pit National Coal Museum

This workshop is aimed at teachers and artist educators working in schools who are interested in learning practical digital skills using apps, to enhance curriculum learning. The content actively supports the new Expressive Arts curriculum and explores the potential for using museums, arts, culture and heritage organisations within the AoLE framework.

This is a practical course during which participants will work with artists Lisa Heledd Jones,Storyworks; Naseem Syed, Darren Latham, Blue Monkey Animation; and Danielle Cowell, National Museum of Wales, to develop skills and confidence in using simple apps on Ipads and digital resources with pupils.

Course participants will take part in four hands-on sessions during which they will learn how creative apps can support a range of curriculum learning including oracy, literacy, research, story-telling, writing, numeracy, history, expressive arts and digital competency. This course offers a framework that supports the new expressive arts curriculum, while also presenting ideas and resources for working with local and regional museums and collections to inspire project work.

Please note, participants are required to bring an iPad and prepare by downloading an app-list.

This course is delivered in partnership with National Museum of Wales.
