Description

MAKE IT HAPPEN- IT’S BACK, BIGGER AND BETTER.

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council Public Health Department are pleased to announce that the ‘Make It Happen’ initiative will be returning for a second time in October 2017: Following on from our successful event in April 2017, where 11 different projects received funding to initiate their ideas.

The Healthy Communities team are once again inviting groups and individuals that want to make things happen in Dudley to attend an exciting day of sharing and learning at DY1 community Building.

To help shape the future of community projects across Dudley Borough, a small pot of funding has been identified to support community-led projects. The event is a great way to network with other community groups to help share ideas, knowledge and resources to assist communities across the borough.

Groups will have the opportunity to provide a 3 minute pitch to showcase the importance of their projects and the difference it will make. After hearing each pitch, the audience will be invited to ask questions to gain more information about each endeavour. The panel will then come together to decide how funding will be allocated. The panel will include one Public Health Chief Officer, a Policy Officer, a Voluntary Sector Representative and three Young people.

Groups will be have the chance to network over an informal lunch supplied by ‘Lunch On The Run’, one of our successful projects from the previous ‘Make It Happen’ event in April. Participants will be encouraged to mingle and offer tangible resources to help support each other throughout the day.

Giving you a voice

We want to give people a voice and an opportunity to be part of the decision making process so attendees and participants of projects will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite project. The only condition will be that you can’t vote for your own project. The winning project will receive the full amount of funding they pitch for; together with promotion from the Healthy Communities Team.

Dudley Council cares about its communities; we know that you do too and we want to work with you to make things even better!

We know that people all across the borough are making amazing things happen in the places they live, study or work. We want to bring together people with awesome ideas that want to improve the places they live in, with people who can help make these things happen by sharing time, spaces, knowledge, resources or funding.

Come along if you :

  • have an idea that you would like to share/ gain some support for
  • have already started something but would like to develop and grow it
  • have skills, knowledge, resources, time, connections, spaces or other gifts to share with others
  • just want to be inspired by the amazing things which are happening in our communities in Dudley borough

The day will consist of:

  • an introduction to 'Make It Happen'
  • sharing of ideas
  • connecting and supporting
  • helping to decide how small pots of funding are allocated to help make things happen

If you would like to share your idea at the event, we will contact you beforehand to talk through what will happen on the day.

So come on! Get thinking, get creative, get together and ultimately MAKE IT HAPPEN!
