A fantastic opportunity to meet local female entrepreneurs for the inspiration, ideas and support to start or grow your business from whatever stage you are at, with a rare chance to ask them questions and get honest feedback!

This Make It Your Business Event is hosted and organised by local businesswoman, Siobhan Stirling, Director of the Sharpminds Agency in Tunbridge Wells.

Our guest speakers are Deborah Turner of Deborah Turner Ltd, Gemma Farina of GFHR Consulting, Claire Passos of Caracol Glamping and Debbie Waite of Stronger Inside & Out.

We're planning a great event and a chance to build connections with other like-minded women both locally and further afield.

Siobhan Stirling - CEO Sharp Minds Communications

Siobhan Stirling is the founder and director of Sharp Minds Communications, a multi-award-winning marketing and PR agency based in Tunbridge Wells which celebrated its tenth birthday in 2022. Sharp Minds has won many awards since 2018 including in 2023 Best Creative Business and Outstanding Business at The Times of Tunbridge Wells Business Awards and was a nominated finalist at the SABRE EMEA Awards.

Deborah Turner - Founder Deborah Turner Limited

Deborah is a chartered surveyor with over 30 years’ property experience in the public and private sector and provides property consultancy advice to local authorities and small businesses, she established Deborah Turner Ltd over 10 years ago and loves helping clients to make the most from their property assets.

She is the National Policy Lead for Women in Enterprise for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and is an Advisory Board Member of University of Kent Business School MBA Programme.

Deborah is also Co-Founder of Breakthrough Women, an organisation celebrating working women and raising the visibility of women through hosting events and offering targeted business support.

Claire Passos - Founder Caracol Glamping

Claire Passos, Founder of Caracol Glamping, started the company in 2022 after deciding to make her dream a reality. By partnering with a renowned local Asparagus grower and fruit farmer, Claire and her partner were able to present their glamping vision in the Kent countryside village of Groombridge.

Claire is fortunate to have had a career in business development which put her in good stead to pursue this new venture.

Having had a background in travel, business tourism, PR and marketing, all of these previous pursuits have played a big part in terms of knowledge and abilities to create a great brand, and market the new business to her target audience.

Claire has also been involved with TEDx RoyalTunbridgeWells, which is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” This was a fabulous opportunity to collaborate with local businesses to deliver inspiring speakers to the Tunbridge Wells community.

Another volunteer highlight was working with BBC Radio Kent to deliver the morning news review, although a very early start Claire proudly worked with the team for a number of years.

Debbie Waite - Founder Stronger Inside & Out

Gemma Farina - MD GFHR Consulting

Gemma Farina is the owner and Managing Director at GFHR Consulting, which she set up GFHR in 2010, following a career in London working in Recruitment, Management Consultancy, Retail and Property.

Gemma has a team of associates who work alongside her and offer their breadth of HR experience from a variety of industries. As a family orientated team, GFHR Consulting are proactive in supporting local business in all areas, offering a bespoke service, including mental health initiatives in the workplace. Trust and integrity are at the heart of the business. GFHR acts as an inhouse HR department but outsourced. Clients like working with Gemma and her team because of their honest and pragmatic approach in what they do.

Client care and a “family first” approach is always at the heart of how Gemma leads GFHR Consulting. Gemma’s genuine passion for HR and people has led to GFHR Consulting’s continuing growth and sustainability.

Gemma is motivated by her drive to change the perception of HR and to be a role model for her two teenage girls.
