About this event

The ability to look deeply
is the root of creativity.
To see past the
ordinary and mundane
and get to what might
otherwise be invisible.
~ Rick Rubin

Too often we fumble through our days without the time or tools to step back, reflect, explore and integrate. Make & Process is an antidote to this!

This summer, over four monthly sessions, you will be guided through simple yet powerful creative exercises to free up your mind and explore what matters to you through intuitive art making and journaling.

Why? To invite calm, revive the imagination, ponder and integrate the stuff of modern living, and leave lighter and clearer.

Facilitated by registered Arts Therapist, Asuka Hara each session is designed to stimulate right-brain activity and parasympathetic nervous system regulation - aka relax and reset.

The creative practice may include experimenting with a variety of art materials and mediums such as watercolours, acrylics, clay, collage, journalling and more. Zero experience necessary - this is not about being 'good' at art but rather staying open to insight and what feels good.

Purposefully small group sizes, allowing the collective wisdom to be savoured.

This is for you if you:

  • Crave a pocket of creative time for yourself
  • Want an outlet to express and be guided doing so
  • Need accountability for your (creative) self-care
  • Seek new experiences for growth
  • Would like insight or clarity around an aspect of your self/relationships/experiences
  • Are looking for a practical, accessible way to feel less frazzled, reflect and relax
  • Would like to increase your capacity for appreciation and joy

Generous words from past participants:

"Like a warm hug... for yourself." ~ Elahe

"A mental and emotional tune-up." ~ Nick

"I could gush about these sessions for days. The space Asuka created was calm, welcoming, and creatively stimulating. The structure of each session was flawless - simple guided activities to get us started and then the freedom to follow our instincts and create independently... I came to these sessions with a lot of creative energy and uncertainty how to express it. I left these sessions feeling full, energised, connected, expansive, and proud, having dedicated time and space to my creative self." ~ Ella

"Asuka has a magical way of making you relax and peruse expression, whatever type of week you've had and whatever mood you are in. Her kindness and lightness enables just enough courage to dip your toe into a creative flow, and before you know it, you've entered the portal and everything seems ok again. The opportunity to journal in this space is a special way to capture this magic and whatever you put down is always just enough... There is definitely a correlation between the more sessions I do with Asuka, and the more kindness, creativity and play I allow for myself." ~Jess

"As someone who doesn't consider themselves creative in the classic arty sense, I found these sessions very accessible and easy-to-follow. I particularly enjoyed using mixed media for inspiration, and found the range of materials used throughout the weeks connected with me in different ways and helped me to see different perspectives." ~ Hossein

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be good at art or artistic to attend?

Absolutely not! This is not an art class. The goal is not to produce 'good' art or ‘pretty pictures’. It is about your unique personal expression, exploration and making sense of things.

What does a session look like?

Each session follows a similar format - exercises to help you relax and free your mind, then art making around a theme/topic, or whatever you choose to explore, using different media (e.g. paints, collage, charcoals, clay) and reflective/intuitive journaling. Sharing is always optional.

Can I just come to one, or a few of the sessions?

Sessions are designed to work optimally as a block booking, to deepen your creative practice. You are able to purchase all four sessions in the summer series for a discounted rate. However one-off attendances are most welcome, and absolutely beneficial! These can be purchased as single sessions.
