Did you know that an uninsulated home loses around 25% of its heat through the roof? Loft/roof insulation is an effective and relatively simple way to reduce heat loss from your home, and therefore reduce your heating bills.
Join our friendly and knowledgable Advisors at this free interactive workshop to find out about the different methods and materials you can choose, important things you need to consider, and ultimately to decide if DIY is the right route for you.
We will have sample materials available for you to see what you may need, as well as discount vouchers to buy the necessary materials from local and online suppliers.
There will be an opportunity for questions - our core aim is that participants leave feeling more confident and better equipped to install your own loft insulation.
Learning objectives
1) Learn how to install loft insulation yourself - understand the process, what's involved, different methods and materials and gain confidence.
2) Be able to decide if DIY is the right option for you and your home.
3) Learn about the benefits of DIY and potential cost savings, but also what to look out for and the risks involved.
4) Understand the difference between doing it wrong and doing it right - things to consider and decisions to be made
5) Learn about important considerations such as ventilation and potential hazards.
Timings
Participants are welcome to arrive from 9:30am for welcome refreshments and introductions, the workshop will begin promptly at 10:00am.
There will be comfort/refreshment breaks and we will provide tea/coffee/water and pastries.
The workshop will end by 1:00pm, although our Advisors will be available after this for any further questions/discussions.
Please note that installing loft insulation is a physical task and requires a certain level of movement/flexibility as well as a reasonable level of DIY experience. DIY insulation is probably not the best option for those with limited or restricted mobility and in these cases it may be best to opt for installation by a professional.
